A Journey Through the Layers of Cairo's History

This tour with Ahmed was the perfect contrast to the ancient Pharaonic sites. He masterfully guided us through the rich Islamic and Coptic history of Cairo. The day started at the Citadel, where the views over the entire city are worth the trip alone. The Mohamed Ali Mosque left us speechless with its grandeur. Then, we traveled to Old Cairo, walking down into the cobbled streets where Ahmed showed us the 'Hanging Church', the Ben Ezra Synagogue, and the peaceful atmosphere of the Coptic complex. He connected the dots between the different eras and religions, telling a continuous story of Cairo. It was a captivating, culturally rich, and beautifully paced day. Thank you, Ahmed, for showing us a different, equally magnificent side of Egypt.
